DANZ by Mara Danz

Founded by Mara Danz, Studio DANZ has been developing projects since 2021 that explore the emotional, social, and political dimensions of textiles.

As part of her exploration of the history of textiles, particularly with regard to the canton of Glarus, where she grew up, Mara maintains close contact with experts from various disciplines. Archives and collections focused on textile crafts and their historical connections serve as an important resource for her, both in terms of content and form.

DANZ explores textile narratives and translates them into experimental, tangible designs. Textiles are understood not merely as a material, but as a vessel for collective and individual memory, knowledge, and meaning. Material-based explorations become a process of translation, contextualization, and artistic research. Collaborative working methods play a central role.

Current examples include a collaboration with the textile printing company Mitlödi, Switzerland’s last industrial screen printing shop. Drawing on archival research, the company produces vibrantly colored screen prints, primarily on deadstock fabrics. Another example is the collaboration with artist Stefanie Salzmann; through their dialogue, they are exploring the potential of Swiss sheep’s wool for contemporary design.

The Kaiserhaus OF GOODS is showcasing works from the projects *If you don’t let us dream, we won’t let you sleep* and *Weaving Echoes *.

All pieces are produced and sewn in Switzerland and are available in limited editions.
